Trust in paid media has decreased while the significance of peer reviews, friends & family and word of mouth has increased radically. Brands are thus being pushed into transparency. Whether the end of the game will result in a renewed focus on quality and experience or just backfire and increase the gap between marketing claims and customer experience, is something only time will prove.
