June 30th 2015 marked the 6th global Mashable Social Media Day which is celebrated all over the globe. This year, Bramerz took the initiative to promote networking and a positive exchange of ideas by celebrating Mashable’s Social Media Day – Pakistan, which became an event to relish and remember. In collaboration with Lums Center for Entrepreneurship, Jammin Java cafe and powered by Bramerz, we were able to kick off the celebrations in full swing. Our event received an over whelming response with over 200 attendees that engaged with a wide array of people. The event was organized with the aim of promoting a positive image of Pakistan and to celebrate this generations handy companion; social media. “This is the only platform available to everyone individually and if used properly it can make a marked difference in promoting a positive image of Pakistan” said Maryam Yousaf Creative Head, Bramerz.
We arranged a variety of activities for the attendees which featured a media wall, photo booth and live tweeting throughout the event! The following Hashtags were used during, #SMDayPK,#SMDay and #Mashable. The hashtag #SMDayPk was seen trending on twitter in Pakistan with over 600 tweets, which is proof of how enthusiastic attendees were about celebrating social media. Those who couldn’t make it to the event became a part of it by appreciating the initiative on social media as well. A small competition by the name of “From Pakistan with Love” was held where attendees were asked to draw their interpretation of a positive Pakistan and the winning team received goodies as a token of appreciation.
The Social Media photo booth was a huge success, groups of people were seen posing with different social media props such as Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook etc, not to forget the selfies which ultimately turned into “Grand-fies”! With a customized cake cutting to formally mark the celebration of the event, followed by a grand Iftaar which was undoubtedly one of the largest Iftaar gatherings held on Social Media Day; the day commenced with happy people and good vibes. According to Team Bramerz this is just the start, we hope to continue with this tradition on a larger scale in the coming years.
